Mahinda's physician Dr. Eliyantha White could be jailed for two years ! - According to Sri Lanka Medical Council Act

In the event a case is filed before courts against Presidential physician Dr. Eliyantha White for practicing medicine without being registered as a doctor, he could be sentenced to a jail term not less than two years and a fine of Rs. 2,000, a senior official from the Attorney General’s Department.

The official said that Clause 21 of the Medical Professionals, Pharmacists, Midwives and Nurses Act No. 26 of 1927 clearly stated about offences similar to what has been committed by Dr. White and the punishment for it.

The official further stated that according to the said Act, Presidential Secretary Lalith
Weeratunge, head of the sports medical division Specialist Dr. Geetanjana Mendis and the officials of Sri Lanka Cricket who had given him permission to treat national cricketers could also be punished for aiding and abetting Dr. White. Clause 38 of the Act states that no individual could be engaged in any profession without being properly registered.

Dr. White’s official blog site states that he could be met at the Presidential Secretariat and appointments should be made via an e-mail address at the Secretariat.

The official from the Attorney General’s Department says that Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunge could be charged for not taking any action against Dr. White and aiding and abetting in his activities.

Although President Mahinda Rajapaksa is also at fault for encouraging a person who is not registered to administer treatment to individuals, action could not be taken against him due to Presidential immunity.

A Derana producer’s leg to be amputated after being treated by Eliyantha White !

The health condition of a producer attached to the Derana network (semi owned by Daughter of Regime Minister, Sarath Amunugama), who has been receiving treatment from Sri Lankan, Leaders, physician Eliyantha White for over a period of one year has deteriorated resulting in the amputation of one of his legs.

Owner of the Derana network, Dilith Jayaweera had recommended that the producer receive treatment from Eliyantha White. However, when the health condition started to deteriorate, Dilith Jayaweera had channeled the producer to another physician and promised to bear all costs involved in the treatment.

It is also learnt that Eliyantha White had treated Minister Dullas Alahapperuma for a back ailment. Although there had been some relief at the beginning of the treatment, the back pain has got worsen afterwards.

However, when a large number of Sri Lankan sportsmen who have received treatment from Eliyantha White are charged with using banned substances and face years of suspension from their respective sports, sports medical specialist and one of White’s friends, Dr. Geetanjana Mendis has told the media that White used an alternative medical system for treatment and that he was a specialist in the respective field.

After taking medicine prescribed by Dr. Eliyantha White Pace Legend Lasith Malinga’s injury worsens !

Cricket star band fast bowler Lasith Malinga has had to retire early from playing test cricket due to the worsening of his knee injury after taking medicine prescribed to him by quack Dr. Eliyantha White on a Presidential directive, a specialist doctor in sports medicine said.

He said that although fast bowlers have been affected with knee injuries in the past, the incident shave been properly managed by Sri Lanka Cricket.

When cricketers like Champika Ramanayake, Chaminda Vass and Dilhara Fernando were affected with knee injuries, Sri Lanka Cricket had got them treated by specialist doctors as well as from specialist doctors from Australia.

The specialist doctor said that the cricketers had then been able to excel in the cricket field after being treated.

According to the doctor, the prescription of medicine from a quack like Eliyantha White on a Presidential directive has resulted in Lasith Malinga being forced to give up test cricket due to his injury.
