UPFA Galle District Mp's openly criticize the Anti Democratic Family Goverment !

Parliamentarians representing the UPFA from the Galle District have come forward to openly criticize the anti democratic government as a result of the massive dissension growing within the anti democratic government against the Rajapaksas. These details have surfaced when a journalist had questioned these parliamentarians about the development activities in the Galle District.

Parliamentarian Ramesh Pathirana had said he had entered politics after giving up his job at Hayleys that paid him a monthly salary of Rs. 6 lakhs due to his faith in the promises given by the President. Nevertheless, Ramesh had said he was unable to even get a road built by his late father Richard Pathirana repaired.

Meanwhile, MP Nishantha Mutuhettigama has said that although he had worked fro the President's victory by selling his 25 acre tea estate, he did not have any provisions to help his supporters or the people in his area.
Senior Minister Piyasena Gamage had said that he was being continuously victimized by the President, who is angry over the religious activities organized by his sister against the injustice faced by her husband.

He said that when Basil Rajapaksa left the SLFP and worked with then Minister Gamini Dissanayake after joining the UNP, SLFP Leader at the time Sirimavo Bandaranaike never victimized Mahinda Rajapaksa fro Basil's actions.

Several other parliamentarians from the Galle District have also expressed their displeasure over the step motherly treatment meted out to the District. However, they have told the journalist that they were afraid to make any comments at the moment.

Percy Mahinda's Regime won 205, 9 for UNP, 12 for ITAK out of 234 Local Goverment Bodies

Rajapakse Regime had won 205 LG bodies out of 234, United National Party (UNP) had won 9 and Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) had won 12, SLMC 04, National Congress 02, UPF 01, Independent Group 01

The Popularity of Rajapakse Family Regime has gone down in most of the areas compared to the percentage of votes they polled in last General Election. While UNP voter percentage has gone up so far except in Northern Province, where UNP was washed off completly.

JVP lost it's stronghold Thissamaharamma and slipped down to 3rd place while UNP became opposition their....

If JVP had contested in a coaltion with UNP, Oppostion would have won more local goverment bodies. Also if SLMC was with UNP, such a coalition would have also helped to gain some more Local Bodies as well.

Also Urban Counncils Postphoned by Dictator Percy would have easily won by UNP or ITAK if kept with yeasterday's election.

Beginning of the downfall and end of  Dictator Percy and his family Regime is not much far away...

UPFA 128 UNP 7 ITAK 10 so far !

The ruling UPFA has obtained the power of 128 local bodies at the LG polls 2011, according to the results released in 150 bodies.

Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchi (ITAK) has won ten Councils, including Mannar Urban Council and Pradeshiya Sabha, Vavauniya PS, Manathai East PS, Trincomalee UC and Naveenthanveli PS.

The UNP has obtained the power of six councils, including Kuliyapitiya UC, Gampola UC, Bandarawela MC, Kadugannawa UC and Kalutara UC. They would have won more, if postponed Urban Councils were held on this occasion ( Postponed purposely by dictator Rajapakse as he feared that he will lose those urban councils ).  UNP's Voter Percentage has gone up compared to last ruling regime biased general election.

Three other parties, SLMC, UCPF, National Congress and Independent Group have won one council each.

Minister S.B. is to offer 25000 computer tender to Thilanga Sumathipala !

Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake has decided to offer the tender of buying 25,000 computers for the use of university students to his funding partner, Casino Owner and UPFA MP, Thilanga Sumathipala.

The Secretary to the ministry Sunil Jayantha Navaratne has called for proposals on 10th March 2011. Technical specifications of computers mentioned in the call for tenders were prepared only to suit Lenova brand computers which are produced by a private company belong to Mr Thilanga Sumathipala.

Ministry sources say that many companies planned to apply for the tender were prevented the opportunity as a result.

Billionaire, Casino & Bookie Owner Thilanga Sumathipala has been the main funder for S.B Dissanayake while he was in the UNP as well as with the SLFP alliences. Extremely disappointed of Rajapaksa regimeĆ¢€™s politics, the pair is turning into similar tender irregularities to raise funds for a future political campaign against Rajapaksas, say political analysts.

We Will organize a Libya type protests - Says Vijitha Herath

It is the responsibility of the political parties to organize a people’s struggle similar to other countries like Libya. The JVP will undertake this responsibility on behalf of the masses, JVP Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath said today in a press conference.

Most political analyst point out that if JVP can get the support of UNP & other minor parties for such a protest, it will be not imposible to do like what happend in Egypt & Tunisia, while in progress in Libya.

Currently the Country is ruled by President Percy Mahinda & his UPFA Coalition.

More & More Rules to Western Province - New ways to Increase Revenue !

According to a daily news paper,  the Government is going to charge Rs 5000 ($50) from vehicle owners if they park on pavements. When we spoke to several shop owners regarding this new issue, most of them mentioned that "If we can't park in front of our own shop. we will stop doing business here. We will move to some other place or even to Maldives where we can park our vehicles as well as customers in front of our shops! ". Also people who will not use pedestrian crossing will be produce in court.

It is learnt that these are going to be imposed in order to increase government revenue as UPFA Government's internal & external revenue has gone down in recent past. Also the funds forcefully  taken from KP too has gone down (Some believe that his funds were used in 2010 Presidential Election too).

According to another reliable source,  Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) is definitly going to be sold to cover up the expendicture of the Goverment which consist of a massive Cabinet.

Already the ruling party had sold several valuable land at a cheap rate to overseas firms & individuals to start casinos & hotels.

We will have to wait and see what will happen after the upcoming election...

The petitions have been filed for Local Government institutions such as Kilinochchi, Valikamam, Jaffna, Point Pedro, Karainagar, Delft Island, Chavakachcheri Municipal Councils and Velanai Pradeshiya Sabha. The petitions state that the respective District Secretaries had rejected the nomination papers stating errors in the Tamil translations presented with the nominations. According to the translation, "Front" in tamil was used instead of stating as "allience". (UPFA is a Allience not a Front according to the way it's written)

The decision taken to reject these nomination papers is unlawful the General Secretary Susil Premajayantha points out and therefore requests the Appeal Court to order the Election Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayaka to re-accept the nominations.

Sanath Jayasuriya coming to politics while still being a national team player

One time master blaster now had entered politics.Any one has the freedom to come to politics but the bad thing is that he had entered to politics while still playing for Sri Lanka National Team.So UPFA had brought politics to current cricket players too.Arjuna Ranathunga and Hashan Thilakarathne came to politics after saying good bye to cricket as they are real Gentleman's according to myself.

He is an outstanding attacking batsman and a good part time spinner who had served the country at many a times without any dought but last 3-4 years he represented national team thanks to the head of Sri Lanka (as Sanath is still his favorite). Many youngsters couldn't get an opportunity as he had being occupying the national team opening batting slot for last few years even without any good batting performance.Cricket is a sport that can make you get lot of dollars in legal way to hand while politics is another way that it helps to get dollars or rupees in legal as well as other way. So all can understand very well what is he up to?(but I hope he will do better for country too like in 1996 worldcup if gets elected!).

Also according to some sources,Current SL Vice Captain Miralitharan is to contest Nuwara Eliya District from UPFA.Some says that these are candidates fielded in UPFA under the support of "Nil Balakaya"(Blue Brigade) of Namal Rajapakse who too contest from Habbanthota but some says Murali was brought to contest by S B Dissanayake. If Sanath wins,he will win with a large number of votes but if he loose,it will by a large margin.Still can't say anything about Murali.

Finally what I have to say is that, it is really bad to bring politcs to national cricket team. Also cricket fans will too get politicized as a result and it will lead to the rapid (as it is already happening to some level)downfall of cricket in Sri Lanka.

Ranil Wickramasinghe a clean politician but the weakest party leader in Sri Lanka

In Sri Lanka,a political party leader should have a strong backbone when taking decisions but we don't see it from him since 1994.His party which is the biggest party in Sri Lanka had being now in opposition for nearly 14 years since then.So many party stalwarts had crossed over to government as most of them had understood that under Mr.Ranil Wickramasinghe's leadership, they cannot come in to power (most of the cross overs may not be clean but cannot help under the way Sri Lankan politics is done).

He had appointed as well as favor only politicians who are not a threat to him as well as most organizers are weak political wise in their respective areas. His deputy too is a weak character (who crossed over to the government and then came back!).He does not take any advice from politicians who are well favored and/or respected by common people.

A political party should have politicians who can talk well for the masses at various situations, but now UNP has only very few like that as most had crossed over.Dayasiri Jayasekara,Sajith Premadasa,Buddika Pathirana (Recently emerged) and Ranjan Ramanayake (Recently emerged) and few more.So who knows what will happen for some of them after upcoming General Election?.

Also if he had managed to hold power some how in 2003 current situation wouldn't have occured. Also he had a chance to take power in 2004 election too as UPFA had only 105(+1 EPDP) seats which was a minority and if he had taken the support of JHU.Now the UNP voter base had got eroded to a vast level which is at a situation where recovery is some what very difficult.

UNP had won only 2 elections since 1994,So continuous loosing of UNP is not something for us to wonder..! It will continue as long as he is the leader....!
