LankaeNews journalist Shantha Wijesuriya, who is currentlyy in the N Ward of the Mahara Prison in remand custody, has been inhumanlyassaultedd by a prison guard.
Wijesuriya has lodged a complaint with the chief jailer of the Mahara Prison that a prison guard called Chandralal had assaulted him in public for no reason when those in remand at the prison were being taken out from the ward. Lanka News Web learns that a majority of the inmates and jailers at the Mahara Prison have expressed their displeasure at the incident.
It has now been revealed that the arrest of the LankaeNews journalist Shantha Wijesuriya and
the temporary suspension of the website following a court order has been carried out according to the strategic plan of the government. Wijesuriya was remanded following an order by the Pugoda Magistrate on contempt of court charges over a story published in the website stating that Pugoda Magistrate Aravinda Perera had ignored a request made by the Attorney General to release the police personnel in custody over the death a person while in the Kirindiwela Police.
Wijesuriya is in custody till May 12.

lankaenews.com a popular online new source which reveals corruption of anti democratic regime was ordered to be banned until 12th May 2011. following the decision issued by the District court judge Ms. Kumari Abeyratne of the Pugoda Magistrate, this morning (28).
The decision was given after the first court hearing for Lanka e news journalist Shantha Wijesooriya who was arrested by the Kirindiwala police and remanded on the 25th April 2011, based on charges levied against him for contempt of court. District court judge Ms. Kumari Abeyratne concluded today’s hearing with an order for Mr. Shantha Wijesooriya's remand to be extended till the next court hearing due for 12th May 2011; and for Lanka e News to be banned during that time effective immediately by the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission.
The decision was given after the lawyers Mr. Bandara Ekanayake, Mr. Manjula Pathirja , and Mr. Senaka Perera; appearing on behalf of Mr. Shantha Wijesooriya refused to accept the charges made. They further stated that they will appear before the Appeal Courts regarding this court decision.
but many political experts belive that things like this could eventually make it easy for the United Nation and International Communities to take action against Anti Democratic Mahida and his regime.

17 year old Tamil School boy shot by the Army in Jaffna
A 17 year old youth who was allegedly shot by the Army at Thondaman Aaru Selvasannidhi district Jaffna this morning (08) had been admitted to the Jaffna Hospital.
The youth who was admitted with injuries is Ariyaratnam Aruldas. He is a G C E Ord. level student awaiting results. It is reported that following questioning of this youth by the Army when he was going to the shop , he had been shot after an exchange of words between him and the Army.
Those who had been around had seen Aruldas being shot by the Army. Jaffna police is conducting inquiries
