Who gave orders to the police to shoot? By trying to blame on inferiors entire Dept. fouled up: Ilangakoon's IGP appointment hangs in the balance

The Rajapakse regime higher ups trying to save their skins by making the two relatively lower rung police officers who are remanded as scapegoats in the Katunayake police shooting has caused deep despair and disillusionment among the entire police Dept . as well as the two Senior IPs who are in remand custody , according to reports reaching Lanka e news.

Hence , the two IPs , senior IP Ratnayake and IP Ranasinghe who are in remand are getting ready to expose in court the actual culprits who gave them orders to shoot.

A senior DIG who wished to remain anonymous speaking to Lanka e news , said , because of the camouflage measures resorted to in order to cover up and safeguard those true culprits , and the betrayal of the inferiors in the process , the police Dept. Govt. information officers, officers of the Inspectors grade and officers of the training divisions are bitterly disappointed and disgruntled .

The DIG while declaring that the Seeduwa police OIC went to the venue of the shooting on an order and asked who summoned the Seeduwa police when the Katunayake police officers flopped. Did the Seeduwa police OIC send his police group by an aircraft from heaven.? he further questioned. If the police Inspectors of the Seeduwa police are taken into custody , then how come the higher ups who gave them the orders are free? Obviously , because the true culprit- the powerful authority who gave the orders to shoot will be exposed that , without revealing the factual position ,the blame has been fastened on these officers in this hush -hush operation , the senior DIG further pointed out.

The CID made their records not in the daily record book which an ordinary police officer does, but in a page of a book pad. The CID officers who recorded the statements of the two Inspectors Ratnayake and Ranasinghe , ought to have pasted the pad notes , but in fear that these matters will get to be known , have so far not pasted them , he added.

Meanwhile at the media discussion held by the IGP on the evening of the 30th , he stated he did not give orders to shoot.

This confusion created due to the desperate cover up measures that are being invented ,the conflicts have so deepened that the present acting IGP Ilangakoon is also driven into a situation where he may be denied the IGP appointment . Ilangakoon is the most senior DIG at the moment. But he is a stickler for rules. He is popular for his not swaying and stooping to political influences . Hence , because of the fear that if he is appointed as IGP , the true culprits who gave the orders for the ghastly shooting is likely to get exposed, senior DIG S M Wickremasinghe who is in charge of the Presidential security division is to be appointed to that post , the DIG speaking to Lanka e news revealed .. 22 year old innocent protestor's situation is very critical or is he already dead ? - after being shot with live bullets by regime police of Sri Lankan Leader Mahinda !

According to Ragama Hospital, the situation of 22 year old, Roshen Shanaka is very critical but according other unconfirmed reports it is reported that he had died at that place itself but attempts have been made to give the impression he had not died by fixing the machines and equipments to his body. Even relatives of those workers who have been hospitalized are barred from seeing them

Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakse had summoned the State intelligence service (SIS) new Director DIG Chandana Wickremeratne and bitterly castigated him over the violent scenes at Katunayake yesterday, during the protests staged by workers of the Katunayake trade zone. The defense Secretary who is smarting under the assaults launched on the higher rung police officers had blamed the intelligence service for non reporting about such a protest demonstration.

The defense Secretary had questioned whether the SIS officers have not crept into the trade zones and mingled with the workers. He had told them to do so at least now. He had instructed that the SIS officers infiltrate into the unions of the Railways, CTB, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation , SL Telecom , Ceylon electricity Board and nurses .

The pro regime media states that the police had attacked the workers without taking instructions from the Defense Secretary and action is therefore to be take against the officers for abusing the Leaders’s powers

8 more were shot with live bullets by regime police of Mahinda Rajapakse but regime is now had arrested 2 Police Officers in order to get away(/avoid) from any international pressure and human rights violation issues.

Police in uniform have threatened JVP Pedirithuduwa Municipal council candidate : They have intimidated her not to contest and withdraw the candidature

In a notice signed and issued by Dr. Uditha Gunasekera , the chief Executive of the elections monitoring intellectual chain concerning human rights, (N E M I H R) had stated, a group of police officers in uniforms of the Pedirithuduwa police had gone to the residence of Thavarasa Pushparani the Pedirithuduwa Municipal council JVP candidate and threatened her to resign from the candidature.

The NEMIHR says, the police which should be acting without favor or prejudice in regard to the elections and which is its responsibility, is instead engaging in acts of frightening and intimidating candidates of political parties and stooping to be the political lackeys and cronies of politicians. While flagrantly violating the election laws ,these police officers by conducting themselves this way are abusing the police powers and are directly acting in breach of their disciplinary code, the NEMIHR pinpointed. The police have no rights under the law or code of conduct to threaten any candidate .Every citizen has a right to contest. As these violations are being committed from the very outset , they are a serious threat to the conduct of a free and fair elections in the North, according to the NEMIHR.

Another Demonstration in (Maharagama) Sri Lanka had being brutally attacked by Maharagama Police and Government Thugs

On 11th Feb a group of Government thugs had arrived at the location and attacked the demonstrators as the demonstration was about to commence at about 5.00 p.m.At the same time police riot squad attacked the protestors with tear gas,baton charge as well as water cannon according to the sources from Maharagama.

JVP MP Sunil Handunneththi had arrived at the location to discuss with police officers but he too was targeted by the water cannon. The journalists who were covering the demonstration too were threatened and attacked.

Seven innocent people who joined the demonstration were arrested after brutally attacking them.
